12th August,2022, Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, visited Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and convened a symposium about deeply studying the spirit from President Xi on Guangdong and Hengqin’s development and the solid progress made in building this area. 

In the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of co-operation between Guangdong and Macao, he got details about the operation and development here, requested to bring the advantages of the cooperation zone into full play and established a closer cooperation relationship with Macao, aiming to improve the level of scientific and technological research, capacity for applying research results to production and market development. In Chipone Technology (Zhuhai) Co, Ltd, and Guangdong Institute of Intelligence Science and Technology (GDIIST) ,after having a detailed understanding of the development situation in Hengqin integrated circuit and artificial intelligence industry, he stressed the importance of building major innovation platforms at a high level, intensifying the training and introduction of high-end innovative talents, supporting the science and technology research and development and high-end manufacturing industries and promoting the building of international center of science and technology innovation in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Also, he listened to the report on the progress of the Overall Development Plan for Construction of the Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and pointed out that the detailed implementing rules should be scientifically formulated in accordance with the new development requirements of the cooperation zone.

Referring to the key issues in the development of the cooperation zone, Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong Province, presided over the meeting, emphasized the deep learning of President Xi’s speech on the development of Hengqin, thought carefully about the Overall Development Plan for Construction of the Cooperation Zone and did our best to fulfill the goals set and measures implemented. 

He stated that we should firmly remember the original aspiration of promoting the moderately diversified economic development of Macao, which could be taken as the starting point and goal of promoting the development of the cooperation zone, even the fundamental standard to evaluate the effectiveness of cooperative zone construction. We should focus on the four key tasks and industries, ensure the implementation of major policies, platforms and projects and create a livable and workable environment which are similar to Macao. It was necessary to further improve the working mechanism of synergy and cooperation in Guangdong and Macao and give full play to the advantages of opening up, policies and cooperation in the cooperation zone with the purpose of making greater progress. All related governments should optimize the service, cooperate well and fully support this main task.
